Pickstock Homes has outline permission for up to 600 homes on land near Shrewsbury Road in Oswestry

A planning application has been submitted for the second phase of a large housing development in Shropshire.

Pickstock Homes was granted outline planning permission for up to 600 homes on land north of Shrewsbury Road in Oswestry in April 2020.

The first phase consisted of 284 properties and was approved in November 2022.

Plans have now been submitted for the second phase of 316 homes, which if approved would comprise a mix of apartments, bungalows and houses.

They include proposals for 33 of the properties to be classified as affordable.

Developers said the scheme would be designed to "create an inclusive environment" that could be easily used by as many people as possible, and that it would promote walking and cycling.

"The architectural character responds to its unique physical setting and reflects key attributes of the surrounding area to create a distinct and memorable place."

They added that the development would include energy efficiency measures, and electric vehicle charging.

"The proposed development is well considered showcasing high-quality sustainable development of residential homes," the developer added.

A consultation period on the plans is open until 6 May.
