A pedestrian has died after being hit by a car in Dundee.

The incident happened at about 10:45 on Friday morning on East Dock Street.

The 77-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the silver Mini Cooper was not injured.

Constable Christopher McElwee said: "Our thoughts are with the family of the woman who has died at this difficult time."

He add that inquiries were ongoing and urged anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact Police Scotland.

"We'd also ask anyone with dash-cam footage which could assist our inquiries to come forward," he added.
