Two dogs that were "dangerously out of control" have been seized after a person was injured, police said.

Hertfordshire Police said it was called to The Flags in Hemel Hempstead at about 15:25 GMT earlier after reports that the animals posed a risk to public safety.

Officers said a member of the public was reported to have sustained minor injuries and was receiving treatment.

"One of the dogs was sedated so it could be safely seized by officers, the other dog has also been safely seized, and both are now in police care," a spokesperson for the force said.

No arrests had been made and its investigation was ongoing, police added.

The Flags was closed and people were asked to avoid the area.

"We want to reassure the public that no shots were fired to harm the dogs and that both dogs have been safely secured and are being further examined," a spokesperson said.
