Brooks had his appeal dismissed at the Court of Appeal last month

A man jailed after he was found guilty of two counts of rape has had an appeal against his sentence dismissed.

Shane Ryan Brooks was last year convicted by a jury of the attack against a girl in Maidenhead in January 2021.

Brooks appealed his 12-year sentence at the Court of Appeal but judges disagreed that the sentence he was given at Reading Crown Court in April 2025 was "manifestly excessive".

A man co-accused with Brooks died before he could be tried, Lady Justice Yip told the appeal last month.

The prosecution said Brooks and his co-accused "plied the complainants with drink" and then each engaged in non-consensual sexual activity.
