Teen arrested over attempted murder on golf course
BBCA 17-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man was stabbed while walking through a golf course.
The victim, in his 60s, remained in hospital in a critical but stable condition following the attack off Newport Road in Stafford at about 19:00 BST on Thursday.
The teenager, from Stafford, was arrested on Tuesday night, Staffordshire Police said, and was in custody awaiting questioning.
A 30-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and public order offences on Monday was released on bail, the force confirmed.
Det Ch Insp Ian Fitzgerald said the arrest was a "significant development" in the investigation which continued "at pace".
He said the response from the local community had been "invaluable" after the force shared CCTV footage with the public but he urged people not to use AI to enhance images.
"It is incredibly harmful to our investigation, particularly when arrests have been made and legal proceedings are active," he added.
Fitzgerald said the victim's family was being supported by family liaison officers.
