Leadbeater and St Pier elected to fill vacancies
BBCThe president of Guernsey's Home Affairs Committee has been elected to fill the vacancy on the Committee for Economic Development (ED).
Deputy Marc Leadbeater defeated the only other candidate Deputy Simon Vermeulen by 26 votes to 11, after being proposed by the committee president Deputy Sasha Kazantseva-Miller.
Former Chief Minister Gavin St Pier was elected unopposed to the Committee for Employment and Social Security (ESS).
The vacancies came up after the resignations of Deputies Garry Collins and Haley Camp from ESS and ED respectively.
As part of his speech for the position, Leadbeater said he hoped he could ensure strong working relationships between ED and his committee, Home Affairs, when it came to the ongoing review of the population management system.
He added that his background was in construction and he hoped to use his knowledge of the sector to help deliver the housing the island needs.
