Murder arrest made after woman found dead
BBCA man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after the body of a woman was found.
Officers were called by the ambulance service to an address on Teignmouth Road, Torquay, just before 21:00 GMT on Tuesday.
Paramedics confirmed the woman was found dead at the scene, and her next of kin have been informed.
Devon and Cornwall Police said a man in his 50s from Torquay has been arrested on suspicion of murder and other offences.
Detective Inspector Dave Ireland, who is leading the investigation, said: "While we have arrested a man on suspicion of murder, we are keeping an open mind in relation to the circumstances surrounding the death."
He said there would be "a heightened police presence in the area" as enquiries continued and he urged anyone with information to approach officers, contact the force online or call 101.
The force said a mandatory referral would be made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) due to previous contact with the victim, adding "this is normal procedure in these circumstances".
