Two people have been arrested after police raided an illegal city centre gambling den.

Police found poker tables, gambling chips, alcohol, cash and account books at premises in Crown Street, Manchester, on Thursday.

A 33-year-old man and a woman, aged 66, were arrested on suspicion of two offences under the Gambling Act 2005 and Licensing Act 2003 respectively.

PC Nial Vivian of Greater Manchester Police, said: "Illegal gambling can cause many issues, from disputes about cash to money laundering, and it is important we shut them down whenever we come across them."
