Woman dies after car crash on A19 near Thirsk

A woman has died after the car she was driving collided with a vehicle travelling in the opposite direction on the A19 near Thirsk.

The crash, involving a Skoda Fabia travelling south and a grey BMW travelling north, took place close to the village of Great Thirkleby at about 14:20 BST on Wednesday, North Yorkshire Police said.

The woman driving the Skoda died at the scene and police said her family were being supported by specially-trained officers.

The woman who was driving the BMW was taken to hospital for treatment.

A force spokesperson appealed to witnesses, or anyone with dashcam footage, to get in touch.
