Charity says potential new site 'will save lives'

A mental health charity says it plans to build a new wellbeing centre after raising more than £2m to expand free support for young people.

The Surrey-based Lucy Rayner Foundation, which has not yet submitted an planning application, says the site off Killick Road in Horley would offer counselling, support groups and education programmes.

Jenny Rayner, CEO of the charity, said: "Reaching this milestone means we can go further. This centre will be a place where young people feel safe, heard and supported. We believe it will save lives."

Rayner started the foundation in 2012 after her daughter took her own life.

In 2025, the charity said it had supported more than 5,300 people through counselling, group support and training programmes.

Rebecca Paul, MP for Reigate, said: "This new wellbeing centre will build on what the foundation already does so well, reaching those who are struggling before they reach crisis - a place where young people can access support early in a safe and welcoming space."

The charity is hoping construction can start by January 2027, if plans are approved, with further fundraising needed to fully equip the site.
