Inter-islands ferry firm gets summer cash support
BBCThe States of Guernsey has agreed funding to support the ferry company Islands Unlimited this summer season.
The Committee for Economic Development said it would provide a £75,000 grant which was to be targeted at the firm's marketing spend.
It was hoped the boost would help increase passenger growth from both Guernsey and Jersey, as well as bring additional visitors to the Channel Islands, officials said.
The States said the move demonstrated its "commitment to inter-island connectivity through funding and marketing support".
Islands Unlimited was launched in 2025 with £150,000 of start-up support from the Committee for Economic Development and the goal of providing greater travel choice between Guernsey and Jersey.
It now provides daily Guernsey-Jersey services using a passenger-only fast ferry, and in its first year carried more than 27,000 passengers, the States said.
"We hope to see continued passenger growth on this service and the route as a whole this year, which will benefit islanders from both Guernsey and Jersey and bring new visitors to the bailiwicks," said Deputy Sasha Kazantseva-Miller, President of the Committee for Economic Development.
"While there is still work to be done on ensuring inter-island sea connectivity fits the needs of all islanders, we continue walking the walk on our commitment to inter-island connectivity through funding and marketing support."
