Pupils from Melrose Junior School in Guernsey sang along to 'Christmas Dream'

A Christmas song created by two musicians from Jersey and Guernsey has been performed and recorded at 18 schools across the Channel Islands.

Pianist Adam Reece and singer Emily Fern co-wrote 'Christmas Dream' last year and recorded it at Abbey Road Studios earlier this year.

They wanted to get local children involved to recognise the ''supportive community" of the Channel Islands and bridge the inter-island rivalry.

The pair has published a compilation of the videos online on their social media channels.

Ms Fern said they wrote the song in Guernsey last year "by accident", the night before a show for which they needed more material.

She said: "We thought with the supportive community that the Channel Islands is, it would be nice to get everybody involved in a song that was made here."

Mr Reece said: "In sort of uncertain times and troubled times its a message about bringing people together.

"It's about the real meaning of Christmas really, it's connection and a togetherness."

Hautlieu students in Jersey also took part in the song recording

One student at Hautlieu in Jersey, Tiago, said: "It's been a great experience getting everyone together and just bringing the Christmas spirit alive has been wonderful.

"It was really catchy, it was a really catchy song and I thought it was a beautiful song - I loved it. It was really easy to learn."

Classmate Ruby added: "We actually grasped the song quite quickly. New people joined every week so everyone got involved and I think we did it quite quickly."

Delilah said: "I've really enjoyed it. I think it's a great song and it's really helped me to get into the Christmas spirit.

"To get us all together as a school is really nice and it really bumps up the Christmas spirit."

Chloe is a pupil at Melrose Junior School in Guernsey and said: "I think it's going to be quite nice to see all the schools included and I think everyone will like it because it's a really nice song."

George at Forest Primary School, Guernsey said: "I've learned how to express myself through music."

He added that the song has shown "how amazing Guernsey is and the Channel Islands".
