Teen asked pal 'do you want to see a fight' before beach stabbing
Police ScotlandA teenager on trial for murder allegedly asked another youth "do you want to see a fight" before a 16-year-old boy was fatally stabbed on a beach.
The 15-year-old is accused of killing Kayden Moy at Irvine Beach on 17 May last year. He is in the dock at the High Court in Glasgow with Jay Stewart, 18, who is also accused of murdering Moy.
The court that a 17-year-old witness told police that he had been punched by Moy's friend Jay Mooney, or McGarry, 18, in a dispute over a football that was kicked into the sea.
The 15-year-old arrived at the beach with two other youths after finding out about the punch, and later said to the 17-year-old: "Do you want to see a fight?"
The charge says Stewart and the 15-year-old, while acting with Cole Turley, 18, pursued Moy and caused him to fall to the ground before they repeatedly stabbed him to the body.
It is alleged that Stewart and the other teenager had previous ill-will and malice towards him.
Turley pleaded guilty before trial to the murder charge. The two teenagers on trial have lodged a special defence of incrimination against Turley.
'Drunk and angry'
The 17-year-old witness claimed he left the scene after seeing the trio throw rocks at Moy's group and later heard people screaming.
The trial previously heard Turley, Stewart and the 15-year-old were part of the Murray Boys gang, in East Kilbride in South Lanarkshire.
Moy and his friends, including Mooney, were stated to be members of the rival Himshie gang.
Jurors watched recorded police and court evidence given by the 17-year-old boy.
He claimed that he had gone to the beach with friends that day and listened to music, before a ball belonging to Mooney came towards his group.
He said: "One of us in the group kicked the ball in the sea. They seen that and came to us - Jay Mooney was drunk and angry.
"He pushed me and punched me on the left side of my head and I fell on rocks."
Throwing rocks
Mooney is stated to have gone back to his group of friends, two whom are said to have approached the 17-year-old to apologise for the attack.
The 17-year-old claimed the 15-year-old on trial, who he knew from East Kilbride, sent him a text message regarding the attack.
The witness claimed the 15-year-old later arrived at the beach and met with him, alongside Turley and Stewart.
The 15-year-old is claimed to have said: "We are here to fight the Jay Mooney group.
"Do you want to see a fight?"
The 17-year-old said he replied saying he did, but became separated from the other trio, who threw rocks at Mooney's group.
The 17-year-old claimed he "needed to get out of here" and left the area with a friend.
He said that five minutes later they heard screaming coming from the beach and another boy said to them that someone had been stabbed.
The 17-year-old claimed he was not aware it was Moy who was stabbed until someone else told him later that day. He also claimed that he did not know Moy personally before the incident.
The trial continues before Judge Lord Scott.
