Man stabbed in both legs during assault

A man has been taken to hospital with stab wounds to his legs after an assault in west Belfast.

Police received a report around 03:05 BST on Saturday that a man was being attacked by a number of other males in Lenadoon Avenue.

The ambulance service were also at the scene.

Three men, aged 42, 33 and 31, were arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent. They remain in police custody.

Órlaithí Flynn said residents had been left 'shocked and saddened' by the attack

Sinn Féin MLA Órlaithí Flynn appealed for anyone with information to come forward to police.

"This is a very settled, tight-knit community, residents are clearly shocked and saddened by the incident," she said.

"Our information is that the young man is currently received treatment in the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast and I sincerely wish him a very speedy recovery."
