A fire has swept through a former care home, reducing it to a smouldering ruin.

More than 60 firefighters from 13 fire stations across Hampshire were sent to the derelict building on London Road in Liss at about 23:15 BST on Tuesday.

Crews worked through the night to tackle the flames as they spread through all floors and the roof, while parts of the building collapsed, sending debris and embers falling to the ground.

Hampshire fire service said no injuries were reported but that the building had been completely destroyed. Crews remain at the scene and people are being urged to avoid the area while several road closures remain in place.

An investigation will be carried out to determine the cause of the fire.
