Smoke warning as crews tackle grass fire

Fifteen fire crews from across West Yorkshire are currently at the scene in East Ardsley

Fifteen fire crews have been called to deal with large grass fire on a farmer's field near the M1.

West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service (WYFRS) said it was called to the blaze on Woodhouse Lane, East Ardsley, just before 14:00 BST.

No information has been released about the cause of the fire or whether any injuries have been reported.

In a statement WYFRS said: "If you live nearby, please keep your windows and doors closed due to smoke in the area and avoid the vicinity where possible while emergency services respond to the incident."
