A funeral director has issued an appeal to try to find the next of kin of an 81-year-old woman who died alone in hospital without any family.

Margaret Ellen 'Peggy' Murdoch had stayed in nursing homes in Hillsborough and Lisburn before her death on 9 April.

She had previously lived on Wilson Street in Lisburn and at Seacash Walk in Antrim.

Ronnie Thompson Funeral Directors, on behalf of the South Eastern Trust, have asked for anyone with information about any living relatives to contact them.

In a statement on social media, the funeral directors said they do not know about her personal circumstances other than that she had a twin brother who predeceased her.

"There is no doubt that anyone who is related to her or knows her in anyway, deserves an opportunity to mark her passing," they said.

No funeral arrangements have been finalised yet.

The South Eastern Trust will make those plans if no one comes forward.
