Fire breaks out at music venue Rock City

Several crews are dealing with a fire at Rock City in Nottingham.

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said it received reports of a fire in the roof of the concert venue and nightclub in Talbot Street at 08:41 BST on Thursday.

A spokesperson for the service said crews from Stockhill, London Road, Highfields, Arnold and Eastwood fire stations were sent to the scene.

People have been advised to avoid the area while firefighters deal with the blaze.

The venue's owner has been contacted for comment.

Since opening in 1980, Rock City has become one of the UK's most well-known live music venues.

Acts who have performed there over the past four decades include Nirvana, David Bowie, Public Enemy, Guns N' Roses and Oasis.
