Hundreds enjoy an outdoor swim as temperatures rise
BBCHundreds of people took advantage of the warm weather over the bank holiday weekend with a visit to a popular outdoor pool.
The Lido at Droitwich was fully booked on Monday, with 1,200 people expected to visit.
Seb Parker, manager of the pool, said: "When the sun's out like this it's beautiful, we'll be full all day, every day. These are the days you look forward to.
An amber heat health alert has been issued for the West Midlands and is expected to stay in force until Wednesday.
Mike Miller, from Northfield, said: "It's like being abroad - like Lanzarotte West Midlands."
Tas Khan, from Birmingham, said her flight to Dubai had been cancelled, so she went to visit the lido with her brother Javid.
She said she wanted to "make the most of the weather", adding the children were having a great time "enjoying the weather, the water and getting up to mischief with family".
She said it was "nothing compared to Dubai", but added it was "beautiful".
Javid Khan, who lives in Great Barr, said: "We only get it once a year and one day and that's it, so we want to make the most of it."
Meanwhile, Johnnie Arkwright, founder of Hatton Country World, in Warwickshire, said they were making sure the animals had lots of water.
He said the pigs at the farm loved a wallow in the mud.
"That just keeps their bodies cool as well as having an undercover area," he added.
"This time of year, it is hot, but the grass is lush. There's vivid greens everywhere, the whole place looks unbelievable on a day like this in May, and the countryside in England is as beautiful as anywhere in the world I think."
He said animals at the farm, which include llamas and lambs, coped well in the heat.
