Residents are being invited to help transform street cabinets in Droitwich Spa into works of art.

The project will see nine green boxes, which house broadband and phone connections, turned into professional hand-painted murals.

Anyone who lives, works, or studies in the town is invited to take part in a workshop at the community hall from 15:00 BST on Tuesday, with ideas and themes then used to inspire the artworks.

Wychavon district councillor Rob Adams said: "I urge residents to answer the call and help turn an essential part of our communication infrastructure into a celebration of everything that makes Droitwich Spa special."

The authority has teamed up with cabinet owner Openreach and community public arts organisation WeTheSeeds to launch the mural competition.

Online submissions are also being accepted, with a closing date of 11 May, it added.

WeTheSeeds creative director Rikesh Patel added: "We need as many people to share their stories and ideas with us as possible so we can turn this overlooked infrastructure into beautiful markers of identity, community and change."
