Man in 50s dies in house fire

A man in his 50s has died following a fire in Devon.

Emergency services were called to reports of a fire at a property in Oxclose, Yoeford near Crediton on Sunday.

Devon and Cornwall Police said a body was found on the balcony. It said formal identification was yet to take place but he was believed to be a local man in his 50s.

Police said enquiries were ongoing but the death was not believed to be suspicious.

Police said a scene guard remained in place and asked the public to refrain from attending the area, in order to give the family privacy and allow the emergency services to continue investigation work.
