Residents of Seaham are being asked how they would like their town to be improved

Residents are being asked to help create a "vision" for their town.

Durham County Council has urged people living in Seaham to share their views on the town's strengths and opportunities, as well as what could be improved.

The feedback will be used to develop a Strategic Place Plan (SPP), designed to regenerate the area and grow its economy.

Councillor Karen Allison said the SPP would give people and businesses the chance to "shape the future" of Seaham.

A series of consultation and engagement events will be held over the next eight weeks, as well as an outreach programme with schools, businesses and community organisations.

People can also provide feedback through an online survey, which will run until 17:00 BST on 31 May.

Similar economic plans are already being developed by the council for Spennymoor, Durham, Shildon, Newton Aycliffe, Bishop Auckland, Stanley, Chester-le-Street, Crook, Consett, Peterlee and Barnard Castle.
