Fire at Peterhead school treated as deliberate

Police are treating a fire which has closed an Aberdeenshire school as deliberate.

The blaze broke out in the early hours of Friday at Dales Park Primary in Peterhead.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service attended and nobody was injured.

The school has been closed this week, with some lessons being taught at Peterhead Academy and Buchanhaven school.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "The fire is being treated as wilful and inquiries are ongoing."

Senior pupils at the school in years P4 to P7 are having lessons at Peterhead Academy.

Measures are also being put in place for enhanced provision for pupils at Buchanhaven school.

P1 to P3 are learning from home with more information to be put out later about arrangements for the rest of the week.
