Bomb squad called after ordnance donated for exhibition
BBCA bomb disposal team has been sent to Lerwick Town Hall in Shetland after someone donated a "possible ordnance device" to an upcoming exhibition.
Roads in the area have been cordoned off after the item was discovered at the rear of the building at about 18:00 on Friday evening.
A spokesperson for Shetland Islands Council said the local authority received a donation of WW1 items for a display which is due to take place, adding: "Among them was a possible ordnance device, so the police were informed."
Police said it was believed the device was historic and non-suspicious, but inquiries were ongoing.
John Jamieson Close and surrounding roads including Hillhead, Charlotte Street and Hill Lane have been shut.
Police said anyone with information or concerns should contact Police Scotland.
