A woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder after the death of a baby girl, police have said.

Cambridgeshire Police said it was called at about 07:40 BST on Saturday by the ambulance service with a "report of concern" for a woman and baby girl at a property in Oxford Way, Cambourne.

Both were taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge but the baby was declared dead shortly after arrival.

The woman remains in hospital, police said.

Det Insp Andy Moralee, from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire major crime unit, said: "This is a tragic death of a baby girl – a very sad and, we believe, isolated incident.

"The circumstances remain under investigation, but we are treating her death as suspicious."

The East of England Ambulance Service has been contacted for comment.
