A man in his 50s is in a critical condition in hospital after falling from an e-scooter in the early hours of Thursday morning, police have said.

Thames Valley Police said two men had been travelling on an e-scooter on Church Cowley Road in Oxford between 00:42 and 00:54 BST when they fell.

One of the men, aged 57, sustained a significant head injury and remains in a critical condition in hospital, whilst a 22-year-old man suffered minor cuts and bruising, the force said.

Police said the younger of the pair had been arrested on suspicion of driving while over the prescribed alcohol limit and causing serious injury by careless driving.

The 22-year-old had since been released under investigation.

Police have urged any potential witnesses to the incident, and the events leading up to the e-scooter leaving Iffley Road, to contact the force.
