Passengers consulted on proposed bus fare increase
BBCThe States of Guernsey plans to increase bus fares for the second time in 15 months in the face of "increasing operating costs".
The Committee for the Environment and Infrastructure (E&I) said it was inviting islanders to comment on its proposed changes, due to come into effect on 1 January 2025.
Under the proposals, the standard daytime journey fare would increase by 10p from £1.50 to £1.60, which it said was in line with inflation.
The committee has also proposed the pay-as-you-go PuffinPass daytime journey fare increase from £1 to £1.15, which is above inflation.
It said this would "offset the increases in the existing bus contract costs".
It follows a bus fare rise in October 2023, when a standard daytime journey price rose from £1.25 to £1.50, part of changes the government said would generate about £250,000 a year to save a taxpayer subsidy.
