Driver with 59 points on his licence avoids jail

A disqualified driver, who police say has 59 points on his licence, has avoided jail despite committing further offences.

Iain Ashmore pleaded guilty to three counts of driving while disqualified and driving without insurance, and one count of using a mobile phone while driving at Lincoln Magistrates' Court on 24 July.

According to Lincolnshire Police, the 45 year old, of Fuchsia Way, Witham St Hughs, was seen driving on three occasions near his home. He was driving the same vehicle, a white Ford Transit Connect on 30 May, 23 June and 23 July.

Ashmore was sentenced to eight weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months, and was also disqualified for a further 12 months.
