St Peter's main road has been closed over the past six months to allow for upgrades to the drainage network

A road is due to partially reopen on Monday after being closed in stages since October last year.

Parts of St Peter's main road have been closed over the past six months to allow for major upgrades to the drainage network, the Government of Jersey said.

The Infrastructure and Environment department said for the next phase of the work there would be a single-lane closure by the Methodist church.

It said this was to "complete the outstanding works on the rising mains and discharge manhole" and, once complete, single lane closures would be moved back down to La Grande Route de Saint-Pierre, "connecting properties to the new sewer".

Infrastructure and Environment said the works were being done to make sure the drainage systems could "evolve to cope" with new homes and heavier rainfall "linked to climate change".

"This will support planned and future development, reduce flood risk and build resilience into our wider Island infrastructure," it said.
