Firefighters tackled the blaze at St Peter and the Waterfront in Plymouth

Fire crews have been battling a blaze in a top-floor flat on Plymouth waterfront.

The alarm was raised at 16:55 BST with people reporting flames and smoke pouring from the St Peter and the Waterfront property, said Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service.

Fire engines from across Plymouth, including Plympton, Camels Head, Crownhill, Greenbank, Ivybridge and Yelverton, went to the scene, joined by a crew from Saltash.

Crews used hose reel jets, a high-powered jet and an aerial ladder platform to reach the upper floor. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus also worked to bring the blaze under control. There have been no reports of casualties.
