South Cambridgeshire District Council said there were 17 caravans at the site on Wednesday

A year-long injunction has been granted to prevent further works being carried out at an unauthorised caravan park.

Residents had reported seeing construction work taking place on land west of Moor Drove in Histon over the most recent May bank holiday weekend.

A temporary injunction was initially granted to South Cambridgeshire District Council by the High Court on 25 May and then a 12-month extension was granted on Wednesday.

The order states that all caravans and buildings moved on to the site after 25 May must be removed. It means all but five caravans must be relocated.

Breaching the injunction could mean offenders are imprisoned, fined or have assets seized from them.

The latest court order identifies 14 individuals as well as "persons unknown".

Anyone who knowingly carries out work on the site will be in contempt of court, it explains.

Talking after the court hearing, Liberal Democrat Henry Batchelor, the lead cabinet member for planning at the council, said his officers had "moved swiftly".

"We will continue to act decisively and in accordance with the court's directions to ensure this matter is resolved as quickly and effectively as possible," said Batchelor.

"Planning rules exist to protect our communities, and it is important everyone follows them, so development takes place fairly and appropriately."
