Doctors 'hold patients hostage' and 'The whole of the moon'

"We saw the whole of the moon" is the Sun's headline on the achievement of the Artemis II mission - a reference to the hit song by the Waterboys. The paper calls the mission a "giant leap into history".

The Guardian describes how the four astronauts dimmed the lights in their capsule and positioned themselves by windows in readiness for setting the record for the furthest distance humans have travelled from Earth - before hugging each other in celebration.

According to the Financial Times, US President Donald Trump has talked up progress during indirect talks with Iran - while doubling down on his threat to hit power plants and bridges.

The Daily Telegraph says negotiators - among them, Vice-President JD Vance - are making a final push for peace. The Guardian's headline quotes Trump, who said Iran could "be taken in one night". The i Paper reports that the UK will not allow the US president access to British bases to attack Iranian infrastructure.

The Daily Express and the Daily Mail lead on the strike by resident doctors in England - with the latter among several papers estimating that the industrial action over the past three years has cost the health service more than £3bn.

The Times quotes the head of NHS England as saying they will not let the British Medical Association (BMA) torpedo the "very real progress" made in improving care for patients. The BMA said the government's reluctance to reach a settlement was a "political choice".

The Daily Mail says King's College London has been accused of "dumbing down", by changing how it assesses students. The paper says traditional exams have been scrapped to be more inclusive. The university says that standards are "as high as ever".
