Pedestrian seriously hurt in row with driver
GoogleA man has been left with serious head injuries after being attacked during an "altercation" with a driver as he crossed the road, police have said.
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said it received reports at about 17:15 BST on Saturday that a man in his 50s had been seriously injured in an attack on Oldham Road, Ashton-under-Lyne.
Officers said they believed the man was crossing the road after coming from Keane Street when he became involved in an altercation with the driver of a vehicle, "during which the victim sustained serious head injuries".
GMP said a 32-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of assault and remained in custody for questioning.
Detectives are appealing for anyone with any information to come forward as they try to find out what happened.
The force said it would like to hear from any witnesses or anyone with dashcam, CCTV, or mobile phone footage taken between 17:00 and 17:50 BST.
The car is believed to be a dark coloured estate, it said.
