A crossing of the Caledonian Canal that has been closed for about five weeks following an oil leak has reopened.

Torvean Swing Bridge in Inverness was closed to road traffic due to a fault in the structure's hydraulic system.

On Thursday, the local authority thanked users of the bridge for their understanding and patience.

The crossing provides a link to the A82 and western parts of the city, including Kinmylies.

The nearby Tomnahurich Swing Bridge had remained open to traffic.
