Police were called to the Esplanade at Aberdeen beach

A cordon put in place at Aberdeen beach after a suspected unexploded device was discovered has now been lifted.

The alarm had been raised at the Beach Esplanade on Tuesday morning, and members of the public were advised to avoid the area.

An explosive ordnance disposal team (EOD) was called to the scene.

Police Scotland said the EOD later removed the item. It is understood it was not explosive.
