Man jailed for sexually assaulting a child

A man who sexually assaulted a young girl while she slept has been jailed for five years and six months.

Kane Fox, 29, from Grimsby, pleaded guilty at Hull Crown Court to sexual activity with a child under 16 and dangerous driving.

The girl told her family she had woken up in bed next to Fox after a house party in October 2024 with her clothes pulled to one side, Humberside Police said.

Officers were able to forensically link Fox to the victim, who was already on bail over the driving charge.

Det Con Jason Carter said: "Fox took advantage of a young girl [and] that trauma will now stay with her for the rest of her life.

"This has been a complex and lengthy investigation, and I would like to commend the victim for her bravery in coming forward and co-operating whilst we ensured we had strong evidence against Fox.

"It is thanks to her bravery he is now behind bars and will face the consequences of his actions."
