M6 resurfacing work to cause month of disruption

Motorists face a month of road closures and disruption as a result of a major Lancashire motorway upgrade.

Resurfacing work on the M6 junction 31A northbound near Preston starts overnight on 26 July and run until 28 August.

The overnight works will run Sunday evening to Friday morning, from 20:00 to 06:00.

Most nights will use lane closures only, but some overnight shifts will require full road closures, National Highways said.

The motorway will be closed overnight on 26 and 27 July, 9 to 12 August and 16 August at the M6 junction 32 northbound exit slip road.

Motorists are advised to continue to junction 33, exit and then return south to reach junction 32.

The motorway will also close on 28 and 29 July and 2 to 6 August with the M6 northbound carriageway closed at junction 32 from 20:00 to 06:00.

Drivers should exit the M6 at junction 32 and follow the signed diversion route.
