New home sought for dog attacked in lift
RSPCAA dog hit and kicked at by his previous owner is searching for a new home.
Footage of one-year-old Chopper being attacked in a public lift in Birmingham in November was captured on CCTV.
The RSPCA launched an investigation and took the then one-year-old cane corso and great Dane cross into their care. He is now looking for a new home.
Cat Clements from RSPCA Coventry and District said: "Chopper is a big, bouncy boy who is young, energetic, and looking for a fresh start where he can enjoy life to the full." The attacker was given an 18-month community order and disqualified from keeping animals for 10 years, the RSPCA said.
The attacker had admitted an offence under the Animal Welfare Act.
Chopper was "a sweet boy" who was initially very nervous but had come on a long way since arriving at the RSPCA, Clements said.
"Everyday things spooked him but now he's gaining confidence day by day and, while he can still find new experiences daunting, he is also showing his true character as a cheeky and outgoing chap," she said.
RSPCAChopper is currently being cared for by one of the rescue centre's fosterers and is "thriving" in a home environment.
RSPCA inspector Ben Jones, who investigated his case, said it was wonderful to see Chopper enjoying life.
"His foster family said he loves to nap on the sofa and enjoys socialising with other dogs, which is really lovely to hear.
RSPCAChopper could live with another dog and with children aged over eight.
