Councillor fails to attend court for assault charge
Great Yarmouth Borough CouncilA warrant has been issued for a district councillor who has been charged with assault after he failed to appear in court.
Justin Rundle, 49, an Independent councillor representing Ormesby on Great Yarmouth Borough Council, has also been charged with possessing a blade in a public place and resisting arrest.
He was due to appear at Great Yarmouth Magistrates' Court on Wednesday but did not show up for the hearing.
Rundle was arrested on 23 June following an incident in Caister-on-Sea, Norfolk, the previous day, Norfolk Police said.
Rundle, of West Road, Ormesby, has been a district councillor since 2023 and has also served on Ormesby St Margaret with Scratby Parish Council.

A spokesperson for Norfolk Police said: "A man has been charged with assault, possession of a bladed article and resisting arrest following an incident in Caister.
"Rundle, 49, of West Road, Ormesby, was questioned at Great Yarmouth Police Investigation Centre and charged."
A spokesperson for Great Yarmouth Borough Council said: ''[The authority] is aware that one of its elected members has been charged with a number of offences.
"Given legal proceedings are ongoing it would not be appropriate for the council to comment further at this time.''
