Two arrested for arson over Leale's Yard fire

Two people have been arrested on suspicion of arson following a fire at the derelict Leale's Yard site, police have said.

Guernsey Police said it received reports of a structural fire at the site in St Sampson about 17:00 GMT on Thursday.

People were advised to avoid the area and keep doors and windows closed.

The force said its officers, along with Guernsey Fire and Rescue tackled the blaze which was put out by about 18:30 GMT.

Police added that enquiries were ongoing and urged anyone with any information to contact the service.
