Council group leader charged with harassment
BBCThe leader of a council group is due to appear in court after being charged with harassment.
Alastair Chambers, head of the Community Independent Group at Gloucester City Council, has been charged with the offence under the Public Order Act.
Chambers, 45, of Quedgeley, is alleged to have used "threatening, abusive, insulting words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress" in an incident in October 2025.
Chambers, who represents the Matson and Robinswood area of Gloucester, told the Press Association he will deny the allegation ahead of a hearing at Cheltenham Magistrates' Court in Cheltenham on Thursday.
