Bus station shut as light fitting falls from roof
BBCA city centre bus station has been closed for repairs after a light fitting fell from its roof on Thursday.
Stoke-on-Trent City Council said the issue at Hanley Bus Station may have been "affected by recent extreme variations in temperature".
The authority carried out an inspection and decided to close the bus station in order to carry out repair work.
Passengers could still travel as normal, they added, and bus services would continue to operate, with stops temporarily relocated nearby.
The newsagent located within the bus station was also closed.
The authority said they aimed to re-open the bus station over the weekend.

"We acted quickly to assess the site as soon as the problem emerged," a spokesperson for the council said.
"As always, public safety is our number one priority and we have closed the station in order for necessary work to be carried out as quickly as possible.
"We apologise for any inconvenience."
In a post on Facebook, D&G Bus said for the duration of the closure, its passengers should use Bethesda Street for the 2 to Birches Head, 7 to Packmoor, 7A to Fegg Hayes, 8A to Smallthorne, 9 to Biddulph, 24 to Norton and 43 to Baddeley Green.
Bus Stand Y (Lichfield Street) should be used for the 5, 16, 32, 32A and 32X services, or Old Hall Street.
Meanwhile passengers should board under the canopy by the bus station travel shop for the 9 to Westbury Park, 24 to Newstead and 100 to Stone, the firm said.
