Eighth teen charged over boy's suspected murder
Bedfordshire PoliceAn eighth teenager has been charged with murder following the fatal stabbing of a 17-year-old boy.
Bilal Nisar died in hospital with stab wounds after being found injured at Kingsway Recreation Ground in Luton at about 18:30 BST on 24 July.
A 17-year-old boy, who legally cannot be named due to his young age, appeared at Luton Magistrates' Court charged with murder, violent disorder and possession of an offensive weapon.
Bedfordshire Police said he was remanded into custody ahead of a trial date set for 12 January at Luton Crown Court.
In total eight teenagers have been charged with murder, violent disorder and possession of offensive weapons, with a ninth boy charged with assisting an offender.
Det Ch Insp Nick Gardner, from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit, said: "First and foremost, our thoughts remain with Bilal's family at this incredibly difficult time."
