Man charged over knife attack near nature reserve

A man has been charged in connection with a knife attack near a nature reserve in Nottinghamshire.

Nottinghamshire Police said a 32-year-old man was attacked at about 19:10 BST on Friday as he walked along Bembridge Drive, Bestwood, towards Sandy Banks Nature Reserve.

The force said after the assault, he was taken to hospital with multiple slash injuries to his chest, back and legs.

On Wednesday, police said Mark Crampton, 54, of Chippenham Road, Bestwood, was due to appear before Nottingham Magistrates' Court charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent in connection with the attack.

The force previously said the attack happened in Arnold.

Det Insp Stu Barson said: "This was a very serious assault on a man who thankfully didn't sustain far more severe injuries.

"As such, it is really important that anyone shares anything they may have seen or anything they may have heard about this incident, however small or insignificant it may seem."

A 42-year-old woman and a 15-year-old boy, previously arrested in connection with the attack, have both been released on conditional bail.
