Man, 28, arrested on suspicion of attempted kidnap

A man has been arrested on suspicion of trying to kidnap a woman.

Officers from Lancashire Police are investigating a report of a woman being approached by a man driving a vehicle on North Albert Street, Fleetwood, just after 12:00 BST on Sunday.

A force spokesperson said the man attempted to speak to the woman, before getting out of his car and approaching her and asking her to get into the vehicle. The woman managed to get away and contacted police.

A 28-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted kidnap and a public order offence and is in custody, they said.

The spokesperson added: "We understand that members of the public will be concerned to hear about this, and we have increased the amount of our neighbourhood officers in the area as reassurance, so if you have any concerns, please don't hesitate to approach them," said the spokesperson.
