Pedestrian hit by car driver near music festival

A pedestrian who was hit by a car is in a serious but stable condition, police have said.

The man, believed to be in his 40s, was struck near the Darwen Live music festival by an Audi in Church Bank Street, Darwen at about 21:00 BST on Saturday.

He was taken to hospital for treatment, Lancashire Police have said.

A 28-year-old man from Old Langho was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He remains in police custody.

Sgt Joe Calvert said: "We know there were a number of people in the area attending the local music festival who potentially saw what happened or captured the incident on mobile phone footage.

"We want to hear from them as soon as possible."
