Donald and Daisy have become daily visitors to Sinia's in South Shields

Two ducks have become beloved regulars at an unusual watering hole for wildlife - their local pub.

Named Donald and Daisy by staff, the feathery duo have been delighting punters at Sinia's in South Shields, where they are known to pop in several times a day.

Landlady Sinia Jawzi said the charming pair even peck on the glass to get the staff's attention if they find the door closed.

"They let you know that they're here," she said. "Now the ducks are so familiar with me, the staff and the place, that they just come into the pub to be fed - they know their food's inside."

Jawzi first spotted the ducks some weeks ago outside the pub on Prince George Square and gave them some food and water.

When they returned that afternoon, she ordered duck food and ensured there were signs up to warn customers of their possible presence.

"Everyone's cautious and the customers all love them," she said.

"Somebody bought ornaments of the ducks, some customers have personally made pictures and gifts.

"They're a really big part of the pub and people's lives."
