A Highland golfer has overcome odds of one in 67 million to hit two holes in one in the same round.

Douglas Spencer - who had never had a hole-in-one before - was competing for the Roddy Macleod Trophy at Boat of Garten Golf Club on Saturday.

After what the 60-year-old described as a "not very good" start, he then got his first hole-in-one at the ninth hole, before repeating the feat at the 16th.

Spencer, who came second overall at the tournament, said he would rather have won the trophy, but was still delighted to beat such huge odds on his home course.

According to the US National Hole in One Registry, the odds of scoring two holes in one in one round are 67 million to one.

It said only 2% of golfers hit a hole-in-one each year.

Spencer was presented with two flags by the Highland club to commemorate the aces.

He said: "I've waited 44 years to have a hole-in-one playing golf and I got two in the same round."
