City road closures for River of Light festival
Liverpool City CouncilPeople travelling around Liverpool city centre are being advised of travel disruption as the River of Light festival returns.
Tens of thousands of visitors are expected for the annual light installation trail along the waterfront and in the city centre which runs from Friday until 1 November.
Disruption includes temporary road closures on Water Street and there will be traffic management in place during the festival.
It comes at the same time as changes to rail services due to major engineering works on the Merseyrail network, and the closure of Great Howard Street northbound due to emergency electrical works by Scottish Power.
Culture LiverpoolThis year's festival, Together, features installations that focus on "connection, community and shared experiences".
There will be 13 installations this year, some of which are celebrating their world premiere.
Visitors are being encouraged to use public transport with many of the artworks within minutes of James Street station, Moorfields station and Queen Square bus station, with signposted routes.
Liverpool City Council said the temporary road closures would enable event teams to safely build and remove installations in close proximity to the road and help protect visitors.
