Poet wanted to represent Guernsey at festival
BBCThe hunt is on for a Bailiwick of Guernsey-based poet to represent the islands at an international poetry festival.
Guernsey Arts is searching for a poet or poet performer to take part in Transpoesie: Where Voices Meet, in Brussels, Belgium in September.
The initiative is led by the European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC) and this will be the fourth year Guernsey Arts has taken part.
Rowan Carteret, Guernsey's 2025 poet, said the event had been the "spark" needed to drive their writing forwards, adding: "Transpoésie is truly a writing opportunity like no other."
Carteret said: "Language preservation, appreciation and representation are important values at Transpoésie and my experiences at the festival have inspired me not only to experiment with multilingual poetry in my own practice but also to begin learning our own language, Guernesiais."
Applicants are asked to submit an example poem and cover letter by the 15 May to Guernsey Arts.
